Get Cozy With Cannabis: Part 2

How to Use Cannabis

Welcome to Part 2 of our Get Cozy with Cannabis series! Now that we know HOW to get cozy with cannabis, let’s talk about getting cozy with the use of cannabis and what to expect during your session. We’ll start with some FAQs from our customers, learn about its uses, and how to feel comfortable with the plant.

What is cannabis?

Others may call it weed, marijuana, maybe even the devil’s lettuce. Cannabis at its core, is a plant, used for recreational and medical purposes as a medicine to help alleviate a number of conditions and ease the pain of others.

Here at SeaWeed Co. We believe that cannabis can enhance well-being and that the effects of cannabis are best experienced when used the right way, with the right dose, at the right time. The way each person experiences cannabis is highly personalized and is impacted by a user’s experience, location, and state of mind.

What are terpenes?

For decades, people have been classifying cannabis strains as either “Indica” or “Sativa”

However, the more recent research has shown that these classifications aren’t exactly accurate.  One of the new ways to determine potential effects are from terpenes.

Terpenes are naturally occurring elements that make up the aromas and flavors of many plants, including cannabis. There are six common terpenes: limonene, terpinolene, caryophyllene, pinene, linalool and myrcene. Each of these contribute aromas, effects, and related elements that make up the cannabis plant.

Our Elvis strain, a mermaid grown sativa, for example, tests high in the terpene limonene, providing a citrusy aroma and a mood enhancing effect. This sativa flower is good for your next day off to get some stuff done or hanging after work to reduce stress.

Ask our mermaids about the terpenes in the next product you get from us. It may just help you get the right strain for your next smoke sesh.

What are some different ways to consume?

Surprising to some, there are various ways to consume cannabis… from eating a gummy, to smoking a joint and everything in between.

The 3 main ways to use cannabis are:

  • Applying it directly to your skin as a topical cream or ointment

  • Inhaling it as smoke or vapor

  • Ingesting or eating it

See below for a list of the ways you can consume when purchasing from SWC:

Flower:

Can be used in a joint, in glassware such as a bowl or bong, small smoking accessories like a one-hitter pipe, or even a flower vaporizer. For newer smokers, I’d suggest going with a pre-roll of the Elvis for more nuanced effects.. I’d recommend using bong, bowl, or other glassware if you are a more advanced smoker. From there you’ll learn which pieces and avenues work best for you.

Cartridges:

Vape cartridges are another great way to inhale cannabis.  As a company, SeaWeed Co specializes in Live Resin, which means most of our cartridges are concentrated cannabis extracted from fresh frozen cannabis plants in our extraction lab. Vape cartridges are significantly more potent that traditional smoking, so a little can go a long way. They are also very discreet, good for smaller doses of cannabis and easy for on-the-go . Our new hybrid vape cartridge, Sour Sniffets, for example, is a great strain to pick up in a cartridge. Known to enhance moods, Sour Sniffets is a great way to elevate your day, whatever your plans may be.

Concentrates:

Just like vape cartridges, concentrates are more potent than flower or other types of cannabis products. For the more advanced smoker, concentrates can be used in a number of ways, such as adding our Diamond Dust to your flower bowl packs, rolling infused joints, or simply just to dab. Dabbing, the main way to consume concentrates, can be done with a number of tools. The most popular tools would be a rig and banger, similar to a bong set up, which can be found in a variety of glassware options. If you are new, but interested in dabbing, we offer entry level dab kits and small tools to start with that don’t include glassware. Ask our mermaids which kit would work best for you!

Edibles:

Edibles can be found in many different forms. We offer a wide selection of gummies, drinks, chocolate, even artisan baked treats. For lighter doses, starting off with a 2.5 mg Wynk seltzer drink could be a great start. Graduating to a higher dose, our award winning Pate De Fruit gummies can be split in half for 5mg or taken whole for 10mg. We also offer specialty baked goods that are low dosed and perfect for social gatherings or holiday parties from Pot + Pan. Basically, there’s an edible for just about everyone.

Tinctures:

So smoking isn’t your thing, huh? Or maybe you’d rather just have a low dose coffee to start off the day. Maybe you’re ready to go to bed or are looking for something for pain management. Tinctures might be best for you! The best part about tinctures is dosing it yourself. What does that mean exactly? Well, our marked and measured droppers will provide you with the guidance you need to dose as you see fit, maxing out at 6mgs per dropper. When it comes to managing pain or anxiety, or simply just not smoking in the house, tinctures could do the trick for you.

Topicals:

Topical creams work like any other lotion or ointment. You rub it on your skin and once it’s absorbed, it affects that area. They work because the THC binds to your body’s natural cannabinoid receptors and can provide localized relief. These products are great for those with arthritis, muscle pain after workouts, or as a daily moisturizer. Headland Homestead, for example, has a facial oil that could be used in your everyday skincare. Our CBD Body Butter from another one of our partners, Merrymeeting Bay Hemp Company, is another great example of a product we carry that can be incorporated into your everyday routine.

Here at SeaWeed Co. we always recommend you talk to our mermaids about your needs and intentions before starting your cannabis journey. We are here to help you find the best product to provide you with a comfortable and enjoyable cannabis experience! Take a peek at our menu here, for more information on our offerings.
