SeaWeed Co. Live Resin: Cultivator Guide
Live resin is our passion at SeaWeed Co., but great extracts can only be made with great inputs, which is why we are always talking about our community of cultivators that we work with in Maine. It is likely that if you have been to our 420 party or our birthday party you have met some of them, but we wanted to take this opportunity to highlight some of our popular growers and the cultivars they grow as the basis for the beautiful carts we make.
If you are ever curious about who the grower is you can simply look at the strain label which should call it out above the strain name. Please see some notes below from Jayson Whitmore, our Retail Training and E-commerce Manager
Cultivator - Big Mike’s Icky Sticky: They’re one of the few outdoor grow operations that exist on the recreational market providing the flower for quite a few of our SeaWeed Co. live resin cartridges. They grow some unique genetics that are not found elsewhere. Take a look at some of the examples below.
Midnight Oil: A go-to sleepy strain for me. One of the first ones that I recommend when people are looking for heavy feeling strains.
Lemon Shandy: A good citrusy daytime strain. For me, it leans a little more on the uplifting side.
Sugar Black Rose: A nice relaxing strain without being too sleepy. It has a sweet earthiness to it that reminds me of being outdoors.
Runtz Kush: A modern classic that has a relaxing balanced high that sometimes leans into being sleepy for me.
Twin Pines: This is a very heavy/relaxing feeling strain for me. The earthy/piney taste comes through strongly and I get a balsam vibe from it.
Skunk Ape: Earthy, skunky and heavy. I recommend this one for customers who are looking for “something that tastes like old school weed”
Cultivator Divine Buds: One of our most consistent growers. We almost always have Divine Buds flower in stock. Divine Buds produces a mix of new/interesting strains as well as keeping a stable of cannabis classics. We love Blue Dream live resin so much we put it in a dark chocolate bar.
Blue Dream: A classic cannabis strain. It’s a relaxing strain that I always describe as smiley. Even though it’s Myrcene dominant, I don’t personally get too sleepy from it.
Calendar Island: They’re a small 14 person team and are incredibly proud of how clean they keep their grow facility. They compare their grow to a Michelin star restaurant or a hospital operating room. That translates to very high quality and clean flower.
Mendo 2: Similar to the Skunk Ape, because of it’s flavor profile, I like to recommend this one to “old school” cannabis lovers. For me, Mendo has a balanced to slightly more relaxing effect.
Cultivator - Camp Cannabis: They are a local, family-owned company. They specialize in soil grown, small batch cannabis. The benefit of small batch growing is that the growers are able to be more attentive to each plant.
Peach Rings: I love this strain for relaxing without getting sleepy. I call this a “5pm strain”. Great for winding down after work, but not necessarily for sleeping. Great fruity taste as well!
Cultivator - Lodestar: Lodestar built up a great reputation in Maine’s med. market and recently converted to rec. They’re a small business and pride themselves on growing mouth-watering, terpene rich cannabis. They focus on the end result and what’s best for the smoker.
Banana Cream: This is one of my favorite night time strains. The flavor comes through as overly ripe bananas for me. Very relaxing and always gives me heavy eyes and a big grin.
